Adaay's Harry Three Impressive At Deauville

Clive Cox, one of the best in the game in Britain, has made his name by conjuring top sprinters almost out of thin air and another has emerged from the stable's seemingly inexhaustible reserves in Harry Three (GB) (Adaay {Ire}). Making substantial leaps with each outing now, the bay went from a smooth win in a Newmarket handicap May 14 to another success in a much more competitive version at York June 11 which contained the week's July Festival scorer Lethal Levi (GB) (Lethal Force {Ire}) and the subsequent G3 Chipchase S. runner-up Annaf (Ire) (Muhaarar {GB}). Held up towards the rear early in Sunday's Listed Prix Kistena by Ryan Moore, who was taking Deauville by storm, the 6-5 favourite unleashed sectionals of 10.99, 10.90 and 10.87 between the four and the one and finished off with a barnstorming 11.41 to mark himself well above this standard. At the line, there was a 3 1/2-length margin to spare over the group 3-placed Haziym (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) in a performance that compared favourably with the preceding G3 Prix De Ris-Orangis. “He's learned his trade in handicaps and has made the grade to listed class now very nicely,” Cox said. “I think also that he can improve more and won in the style of a group horse.”

The dam Harryana To (GB) (Compton Place {GB}), who also produced the stable's useful Diligent Harry (GB) (Due Diligence), has that G3 Hackwood S. runner-up and G3 Chipchase S. third's unraced 2-year-old full-brother Due Date (GB) who was snapped up by Cox for £55,000 at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale and their foal full-sister. The second dam Harryana (GB) (Efisio {GB}) threw the G2 Mill Reef S. winner Temple Meads (GB) (Avonbridge {GB}) and is the second dam of the recent G2 Sandy Lane S. winner El Caballo (GB) (Havana Gold {Ire}) and this stable's smart juvenile prospect Katey Kontent (GB) (Havana Grey {GB}).
